Glog

This is an example of a Glog I created on Glogster. My hope is to enable the links and embed it on my Wiki. I just need to figure out how to do this...

Ms. Schuck's Summer

So, I have been busy, busy, busy this summer and I wanted to share some of the things I have been doing with you.

First, I have been living in Avalon, NJ since the last day of school in June. I am working at the Windrift for the second summer, and I work 4-5 days per week. I have been back and forth to Philadelphia and LBI visiting family and friends and attending events such as Phillies games and baby showers.

Second, I began taking an online course related to technology, focusing on Wikis and Blogs, via the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. My hope in taking this course was to refine my skills in creating online tools to enhance the experience of my students and to improve on skills I already have. For example, I have created Wikis for the classroom in the past, but was able to create a new Wiki that will be a work in progress as I continue my career as a teacher. At this point, I plan to use my blog as a form of communication with my students and parents until I feel that my Wiki is where I want it to be. You can find my wiki here.

Third, in creating a new Wiki I have found a cool website suggested by the professor of the course, Rick Kiker. It is Glogster. There is an educational version of the site that I was able to register for for free. I am still trying to navigate it so that I can use in on my Wiki and Blog, but it is an online tool that allows the user to create a virtual poster. It is user friendly and the product is very eye catching. I hope to make use of it in the classroom this year once I figure things out.

So far, my summer has been productive and relaxing. I look forward to learning more from my online course, as well as spending days on the beach reading The Hunger Games.
